Lorene Debrick died Friday morning, November 2nd, in a three-vehicle accident at Block Corners about four miles southeast of Paola.


Arnold was admited to the intensive-care unit of KU hospital with a bruised right arm, cuts on his hand and head and two fractured vertebrae in his neck that will require the use of a neck brace for six to eight weeks.


He continues to improve & is being transferred today (Nov 7) from ICU to a room. Please continue to pray for him and the family. While we don’t know, we don’t expect him to stay in the hospital long. Arnold and Lorene founded Debrick Truck Line Company in Paola in 1958, and their four children have been actively involved in the business since 1981. Kevin now operates the business along with his brother, Ken, and sisters Karen Windler and Kathy Haley.


Kevin and his family have taken comfort in the fact that Lorene was a devout Christian, who was confirmed in 1944 at Trinity Lutheran Church and has attended there ever since.


God was first, then marriage, then family,” Kevin said about his mother. “We know she's in heaven, and we know she's watching.


Visitation for Lorene Debrick will be Saturday, Nov. 10, from 5 to 8 pm at Wilson & Son Funeral Home, Paola. Her funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 11, 2 pm, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Block, rural Paola. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
